Reverse search sends images to third parties; Baidu may receive the original. Don't use it for NDA work or unreleased commissions. How data is handled

Not sure which one to use?

Images: Find References from a description; Reverse Image Search for an existing image's origin; Find Similar Images inside your own library.
Time: Process Recording is by artwork; Software Usage is by app and isn't drawing time.
Images you own: Resource Library browses them; Library Index adds tags for searching.
Evidence: Digital Certification records a time before publication; Rights Evidence captures an infringing page afterward. A timestamp alone doesn't prove authorship.

Where do I find it in the app?

WorkspaceOpen Workspace on the left → type in the box at the bottom; you can also choose References below it.

LibraryOpen Library on the left → select a library, or create one using the on-screen prompt.

Data CenterOpen Data Center on the left → choose Drawing, Software Usage, Commissions, or another section.

ToolboxOpen Toolbox on the left → find the named card; switch pages if it isn't visible.

Sidebar gone while chatting or browsing the Library? Use the back arrow at the top left. For help finding a feature, use the “?” at the top right.

Trace an image's origin: Toolbox → Reverse Image Search. How to use it
Style DNA: Toolbox → Creative Review → Style DNA tab. How to use it
Watermarks, certification, rights evidence: Toolbox → Copyright Protection → matching tab. How to use it
File Search, Find Similar Images, Custom Workflows: start in Workspace chat; they don't have separate Toolbox cards.
Import a whole board: Library → Import from elsewhere → Whole board. Software Usage: Data Center → Software Usage; turn recording on there.
Reference Board and Color Assistant cards open floating windows. Launch the Color Picker with a shortcut or the Astrolabe.
Web Clipping: right-click an image in your browser → Save to Nephele, after connecting Wisp. Nephele Aura is a separate mobile app.

What do these features need?

Local use: Browsing the Library, process recording, picking colors, and watermarking don't spend Nepheline when used directly. Local models may need a first-time download.
Cloud use: Chat, Creative Review, and Style DNA need a connection and spend Nepheline. Chat still costs Nepheline when it runs a local tool.
Online doesn't always mean paid: timestamps, webpage evidence, and platform refresh need a connection; reverse search and artist subscriptions depend on which path you use.

Processed locally

Library browsing, indexing, search, and local similarity: no Nepheline, images stay on your machine; the indexing model may need an initial download.
Process recording and export, Software Usage, Watermark & Credit, AI Credential Check, Astrolabe, Color Picker, and Color Assistant: no Nepheline when used directly; related data stays on your machine.
The “?” by the input: tapping suggestions works offline and doesn't spend Nepheline; typing a question needs a connection and sends only the text you enter.

Uses the cloud

Chat: spends Nepheline; text goes to the cloud, and turns with images upload those images.
Find References: needs a connection; cloud re-ranking spends Nepheline and uploads compressed candidate images. Wisp sources use your own browser.
Creative Review and Style DNA: need a connection, spend Nepheline, and upload images to the cloud.

Online, with conditions that depend on the path

Reverse Image Search: the Google Vision path spends Nepheline. Most external engines receive a compressed copy stripped of metadata via temporary storage, deleted within 24 hours. Baidu Image Search uploads the original directly from your browser, without compression or metadata stripping; animated GIFs may also be sent as-is. Booru MD5 sends only a hash, while local-library comparison stays on your machine. Do not reverse-search NDA work or unreleased commissions. Privacy & Data
Digital Certification: a third-party timestamp needs a connection and sends only the file hash, not the image. Offline fallback uses a local timestamp without third-party attestation.
Rights Evidence: needs a connection to capture the infringing webpage, but doesn't spend Nepheline.
Data Center: local stats work offline; platform refresh needs Wisp. Platform data is read through your browser and saved locally, without Nepheline spend.
Artist Subscriptions: need a connection. X deliveries or fetches may spend Nepheline; check the subscription guide and in-app notices for rates and limits.
